Modular Designed Electro-hydraulic Servo Controlled Loading System

The modular electro-hydraulic servo loading system is mainly used for vertical loading of structural seismic test. One load module has the vertical loading ability from 100t to 400t according to the test needs and the bearing strength of reaction foundation. The loading module adopts an electro-hydraulic servo center-through actuator as the closed-loop control elements. It can do constant speed loading or load holding control by use the load or displacement as the feedback. Several load modules can work together to do synchronous or phase control according to the test needs. The modular loading system has a protection frame which is used to protect the loading module from collapse once the specimen is unstable or broken suddenly.

The modular electro-hydraulic servo structure testing system can be configured with different modules which have different loading capacity according to the test requirements. Together with the multichannel servo controller POP-M and application software POPWARE-M, the auxiliary device, pipeline and hydraulic power system, the modular loading system can form a general vertical loading system, so as to complete a seismic performance test for a typical structure specimen such as columns, beams, plates, walls, frames and nodes etc.

Main Function and Technical Specifications:

  1. The modular designed electro-hydraulic servo controlled vertical loading system is a patented product jointly developed by POPWIL and Tongji University. The patent No.: ZL2017 2 0268016. X-- A modular electro-hydraulic servo vertical loading device.
  2. The core component of the modular loading device is the electro-hydraulic servo centre-through actuator (The national invention patent No.: ZL 2015 1 0750640.9 structure test center-through servo actuator).
  3. The construction of the modular loading device can be described as follow: the electro-hydraulic servo center-through actuator is used as the loading element. The bottom end of the loading rod is connected with the base plate through the spherical support. The base plate is fixed on the reaction foundation. After passing through the center of the actuator piston, the loading rod is connected with the actuator piston through load cell and a spherical support to ensure that the test force always passes through the center of the actuator.
  4. The centre-through actuator is equipped with a servo valve, load and displacement sensors. Two independently controlled centre-through actuators form one loading module. One or more loading module form a modular loading system which realizes synchronous control of the centre-through actuators through a POP-M multi-channel controller.
  5. The modular loading system is mainly used for vertical loading. When the horizontal actuator applies the inertial force, it is necessary to calculate the vertical and horizontal component forces according to the displacement of the horizontal actuator and the position of the loading point and the rotation center of the modular loading system to correct the vertical and horizontal forces, so as to obtain more accurate result.
  6. Maximum vertical loading capacity of one module: 100t, 200t, 400t. Standard stroke: 200mm
  7. Loading rod length: 1500mm, can be extended, single extension rod length: 500mm, or customized.
  8. It is equipped with test attachments such as connecting seat, fixed seat, hinge and connecting ball seat, external protection frame, connecting lifting ring and lifting rope.
  9. Equipped with POP-M multi-channel electro-hydraulic servo controller and application software POPWARE-M.
  10. The modular loading system can be used to do vertical loading independently or integrated together with the existing seismic testing system by the way of data exchange.

Load capacity of the first center-through servo actuator:     500kN, one module: 1000KN, two modules in total;

Load capacity of the second center-through servo actuator:  1000KN, one module: 2000kN, two modules in total.

  1. Effective working range and load accuracy of the module loader: 4% -- 100% FS, ± 1% indication value;
  2. Every centre-through actuator is equipped with load sensor and external displacement sensor
  3. A POP-M controller with four control channels realizes the synchronous control of the four centre-through actuators in two modules. The application software POPWARE-M is working under Windows 7/10;
  4. Maximum piston stroke of the centre-through actuator:

  6. Bearing capacity of single rod: 1000KN.
